A recent study from ClearPeople and Microsoft documents how enterprise content management solution SharePoint can be used for vertical document management solutions in the legal field.
According to CMSWiRe, ClearPeople is an expert at adjusting SharePoint to meet the needs of the legal community and says the recent study shows how the company can deploy a document management solution using SharePoint and WISDOM DMF.
The tweak allowed European law firm Kinstellar to view and search its legal files in the SharePoint library giving it the ability to use standard Microsoft Outlook applications.
CMSWiRE says that the study proves that while SharePoint is a valuable tool to many organizations, it can be changed slightly to make it more efficient for its users.
"This deployment shows how the introduction of the right software can allow users to get on with their business and achieve more, while reducing the amount of time spent wasted on fruitless searching," the site says. "It also demonstrates that SharePoint can be extended and used to create point solutions that help organizations in their day to day work activities."
Still, SharePoint can be a security risk for companies that don”t manage it properly. A recent study from Information Architected found that 40 percent of companies were unaware of how large their SharePoint deployment was.
