In response to the growing need to archive social media activity, Open Text recently announced that its ECM Suite now features social tools aimed at fostering customer engagement and productivity. The new features allow for easier communication between employees that will allow them to handle various tasks more efficiently, according to Open Text.
Part of Open Text”s appeal to its customers is its ability to provide updates to its solutions as new trends arise. The new tools offer users capabilities similar to popular mainstream social media services like Facebook or Twitter that operate within the company”s secure network.
"With its more than 500 million members, Facebook, along with social sites like Wikipedia and Twitter, have brought social media into the mainstream," James Latham, chief marketing officer for Open Text, said. "Now, Open Text leads the way for social media to be successfully deployed across the enterprise in a more secure environment."
For most of 2010, enterprise users of Facebook and Twitter have struggled to prevent malware attacks originating from the websites. Even though both have implemented new security protocol to prevent issues, worker carelessness has led to instances of data loss and other information compromises.
