SharePoint migration made easier

by | May 26, 2011

For companies looking to migrate from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010, the process can be less stressful. For companies considering migrating data to another platform, the process is not always the easiest undertaking. For collaboration purposes, migrating from Microsoft SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010 can be difficult as well.

According to Soarsoft Africa, which specializes in migration archive and messaging services, Metalogix’s StoragePoint not only provides assistance for migrating processes, but also enhances overall SharePoint performance.

StoragePoint allows companies to free up dataspace by remote or offload binary large objects. The StoragePoint FileShare Librarian moves content from File Share to SharePoint or from SharePoint 2007 to SharePoint 2010 more quickly. Also, before going live with the migration, FileShare Librarian offers a test to see if there are any issues with the process, the company stated.

“SharePoint is an excellent platform for companies that work in a collaborative environment, but challenges are experienced when it comes to storing large volumes of content, which places a strain on the database, which in turn creates a host of issues,” said Soarsoft Africa.

Companies utilizing SharePoint 2007 may be in line for an upgrade. The newest version of the collaboration software offers several benefits, including enhanced document libraries, security and user interface, according to a report by InfoWorld.
