By utilizing Microsoft SharePoint 2010, a state agency of New Jersey was able to improve its electronic document management system and workflow.
The agency hired Sitrof Technologies to set up the system by developing a process of requiring all submissions to be converted into electronic form. The submissions were then sent to SharePoint for tracking and storage purposes.
According to Sitrof, the state agency was able to reduce paper consumption by decreasing the the need to print duplicate copies. The entire staff, including clerks and general counsel, spent less time in document routing, searching and and petition reviewing. Also, SharePoint allowed the agency to process all petitions within the specified deadlines, improving overall compliance.
“The state has several initiatives to implement SharePoint 2010 document management and collaboration workflows in various departments and divisions across the state,” said the report.
Over the past five years, 20,000 users have adopted SharePoint on a daily basis, reaching more than 7 million users each year, according to a report by ZDNet.
