With the global recession having no end in sight, enterprise is constantly looking for ways to cut costs while maintaining productivity. According to some, the answer is SharePoint.
In a post for FreshBusinessThinking.com, Richard Rands says Microsoft”s Hosted SharePoint 2007 can allow remote workers to access the same information that in-house employees can see which increased productivity and efficiency while during file duplication.
The solution also allows employees to communicate through one central portal which can increase security by keeping inaccurate information from being released.
It has also been stated that companies small and large may want to consider investing in enterprise content management solutions like SharePoint during the current recession.
Susan Hanley of NetworkWorld says that one of the ways ECM products can help companies cut costs is by decreasing the need for business travel.
"In a geographically dispersed organization, cutting back on travel doesn’t mean project teams aren’t expected to work together; it must means that they have to work more effectively at a distance," she writes.
