Showing the growth of enterprise content management solutions around the world, the Scottish Further and Higher Education Funding Council (SFC) is now using the Open Text ECM Suite for its records and document management.
The SFC, which distributes £1.7 billion ($2.5 billion) in funding to universities and colleges around Scotland, says it has chosen to use the Open Text product to help access and archive documents as well as make it more efficient.
Tim Cain, senior IT projects officer and the program manager at SFC, says the ECM solution will help the organization meet communication and regulatory needs.
"We recognized effective communication and information flow as a major challenge, paired with the stringent regulations put in place by the regulatory agencies," he said. "SFC concluded that content management capabilities available from the Open Text ECM Suite could fulfill its current and potential needs."
Cain says using the solutions has already proven to be cost effective as the council is now looking to reduce its office space and use other space more effectively. Calling the cost savings "staggering," Cain says the use of the ECM solution improves the efficiency of the program.
