Employee collaboration is likely to become a major focus among enterprises in 2011, signaling that it may be a big year for enterprise content management solutions, such as SharePoint, Documentum and OpenText.
In a recent informal poll conducted by CMSWire, 32 percent of the 907 responses indicated stronger internal collaboration tools, practices and culture would top organization's list of priorities in 2011.
This was followed by refining web content management systems and web engagement practices with 17 percent, and improving information and document management with 16.2 percent.
According to CMSWire, internal collaboration is a key factor in determining whether or not a company will be successful, particularly in regards to information and document management.
"Most successful organizations have a pretty good idea of what really makes them successful, and it's not the consumers who buy their products and services. It's the people inside who work daily to bring innovative ideas to life and work with consumers to resolve issues," CMSWire stated.
One collaboration tool, in particular, that is poised for growth in 2011 is Microsoft's SharePoint 2010. According to a separate report by CMSWire, SharePoint will see increased adoption this year as more businesses adopt it as their primary ECM platform.
