Open Text adds social media features

by | Jul 21, 2009

Open Text has added social media featuresAlthough it may have started as a way for young people to stay in touch, social networking has quickly become the norm in the business world, which is why one enterprise content management (ECM) company is incorporating social media into its solution.

Open Text recently announced that is has begun offering Open Text Social Media, new software which will allow users of its enterprise content management suite to increase productivity and collaboration though social media applications.

John Myers, general manager of social media at Open Text, says the new service – which includes features such as blogs and wikis – takes a popular product and adds level of security which make it more suited for use in the enterprise.

"Open Text Social Media builds on social media applications to deliver a secure online environment where employees, customers, and partners can meet, share, network, and experience the power of collective knowledge," he said. "This new component of the Open Text ECM Suite enables organizations to benefit from these new ways of working together within the overall context of the organization”s records and content management strategy."

As the use of ECM continues to grow, more services may resemble popular online features like those seen in social networking sites.ADNFCR-1861-ID-19274561-ADNFCR
