EMC recently announced that the New York State Department of Health has achieved greater productivity and Freedom of Information Law compliance using its intelligent enterprise capture solution Captiva.
According to the company, EMC Captiva helps organizations to “reduce cost and improve paper-intensive processes through automatic classification, indexing, extraction and routing of business content.”
Each year, the New York State Department of Health handles more than 5,000 FOIL requests, resulting in more than 10 million pages of documents.
By using its solution, the department has reduced its FOIL request processing times from 40 to 20 business days and lowered its paper ordering and printing supplies process by 95 percent and 75 percent, according to EMC.
Also, the New York State Department of Health has cut its staff training time from one year to 12 weeks.
EMC recently announced that its portfolio of solutions has resulted in record third-quarter revenue of nearly $5 billion, increasing 18 percent from last year. The company’s Generally Accepted Accounting Principles net income grew by 28 percent from 2010, reaching $606 million during the quarter, while its non-GAAP net income increased by 27 percent from 2010 to more than $820 million.
