Mobility is key for new generation of ECM

by | Feb 28, 2011

Mobility is vital for the new generation of ECM.The new generation of enterprise content management systems are being designed to be mobile, customizable and created to meet cloud and on-premise needs.

Modern ECM technologies are designed to be agile and social, while also inspiring companies to define who is an information worker, according to a CMSWire article. Information workers are those who work in an administrative or management function.

Workers are able to access content management systems from smartphones, which allows employees to be more productive.

The new generation of the ECM platform improves engagement and delivery of customer services and application consistency.

“ECM-as-a-Service platforms means large organizations can design, build and deploy content applications for all of their key employees – not only those tied to traditional desktop PCs and office suites,” writes Cheryl McKinnon.

According to research by Gartner, the worldwide ERP software – which allows companies to be more flexible with their operations – is expected to reach $253.7 billion in revenue for 2011, up 7.5 percent compared to 2010.
