Network World recently reported the newest edition of Microsoft ECM solution, SharePoint 2010, features substantial social media integration capability. Many of the application”s users wanted highly secure social media applications as part of a new ECM suite to eliminate the threat of malware infection.
Most organizations now use Facebook and Twitter, however, employees using personal accounts on these websites frequently contract malware due to careless use. With SharePoint 2010, companies can develop social media applications designed specifically for their network, which eliminates the risk of malware infection. Furthermore, social media applications designed specifically for use within one company have been noted to improve productivity and employee happiness.
"SharePoint 2010 now includes more social capabilities, and the value for many businesses is that it”s also included with an existing, highly integrated platform. For many organizations, that will be the right direction," Forrester Research principal analyst Rob Koplowitz told the technology news provider.
SharePoint 2010 has enabled companies to develop a number of business-critical applications which have improved productivity. The Seattle Times recently reported Starbucks created an application designed to help new baristas learn to make various products on its menu.
