Microsoft recently announced the release of Forefront Protection, a security solution designed specifically for use with ECM system SharePoint 2010, which the company released last month.
The program is an advanced security system that allows companies to customize their level of security with a keyword strategy and ban certain file types from their enterprise network. The rise of ECM adoption in the corporate world is the motivation behind Forefront”s development, as companies look for ways to comply with regulations and develop business-critical applications from a highly secure network.
"Collaboration is a driving force in the modern enterprise and it really is happening not just within companies but across company boundaries and up into the cloud, [and] there are security considerations," said Joel Sider, a Microsoft senior product manager. "Certainly when we”re talking about a company”s information it”s important to have the right secure collaboration processes and technologies in place."
SharePoint has also implemented social media application development tools into the new solution, which it views as a way for customers to improve security. Using SharePoint applications for interoffice communication, rather than Facebook or Twitter, offsets the risk of malware from either website.
