Microsoft is preparing to release the first service packs of SharePoint 2010 and Office 2010, according to the Microsoft Office Sustained Engineering Team.
More details will be released at the TechEd North America conference in Atlanta, Georgia, including the release schedule. The engineering team stated that one of the updates to the service pack include the 40 SKU languages for Office and the SKU languages for SharePoint.
Also, four language interface packages will be released: Galician, Basque, Catalan and Serbian Cyrillic.
The updates in the service pack will contain cumulative and public updates when shipped.
“This is an advantage of automatic updates that is often unrecognized – keeping current significantly reduces the amount of testing necessary for service pack releases because those public updates already include the cumulative updates for the affected products / packages,” wrote the Microsoft Office Sustained Engineering Team.
According to a ZDNet report, Microsoft has been adding 20,000 SharePoint users each day for the past five years, reaching more than 7 million users each year.
