IBM has launched a new online social network for IT professionals using its FileNet content manager, called the North American Enterprise Content Management Systems Community.
Community architects Ian Story and Ranjun Chauhan said the community will serve as a collaboration point for all users of the IBM ECM suite of products, including end users of systems, project managers, technology administrators, third-party solution providers, integrators and developers.
The idea behind the community is sharing of useful information and best practices, discussing issues and limitations with IBM”s ECM products and providing feedback to IBM and its partners, according to a release.
The website is currently activated with RSS feeds, pages for sharing bookmarks, forums to post questions and have discussions and a profile page for joining as a member and connecting with others.
Story, an IBM customer and user group president, wrote in his first blog post that the forum is aimed at fostering the development and use of solutions with IBM ECM products.
"One of the things that I”ve always heard from my peers at user group meetings is that we need to have a forum where the community can work together," Story said.
In preparation for the Pacific Northwest UserNet meeting on April 2, the community authors said they are looking for participants to post what they want to see at the event.
