Market research firm Gartner has awarded Documentum, the enterprise content management solution designed by EMC, with the best possible rating of “strong positive” in its recently released report. The study focused on the booming ECM management market, which has become increasingly important for companies as regulatory responsibilities have grown.
Documentum offers its customers the ability to automate certain ECM processes while reserving others for user action. This allows organizations to reduce time for aspects of file retention and management, while ensuring more complex processes are handled properly. Furthermore, the solution includes a number of settings that allow companies to specify retention schedules based on various requirements that apply to certain files.
“As legal, regulatory and governance requirements for document retention become more stringent, it is now more important than ever for companies to have a solid strategy in place to comply in full with records-keeping and retention mandates,” said Jeff Bettencourt, vice president and general manager of information governance for EMC’s Information Intelligence Group.
Earlier this year, EMC announced it would redirect its resources to ensure Documentum was successful as a cloud-based application.
