In 2012, the market is projected to grow even more, reaching $288 billion.

“The market for enterprise software continues to recover well following the 2009 downturn, with signs of ongoing growth on the horizon,” said Joanne Correia, managing vice president at Gartner.

Also, worldwide enterprise application software spending is expected to grow by 10.2 percent, reaching $114.4 billion in 2011. Revenue for the enterprise resource planning market will reach $23.3 billion this year, accounting for the largest segment of the ERP market, according to Gartner.

As the market for enterprise software continues to grow, Frost & Suillivan expects revenue for the enterprise content management market to reach $1.75 billion by 2016, growing from the $795 million earned in 2009.
