Fujitsu incorporates SharePoint into scanners

by | Dec 19, 2008

Fujitsu has incorporated SharePoint into all its scannersIT company Fujitsu has announced that its entire line of scanners will integrate Mircosoft Office SharePoint Service 2007, making it the first company to do so.

The company says the integration will allow companies to more easily bring together data and create more productive work environments.

Fujitsu teamed up with KnowledgeLake to encorporate its Connect software which allows users to scan documents directly into SharePoint.

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server Group director Tom Rizzo says this is just another sign of ongoing improvements of SharePoint.

"Adoption of Office SharePoint Server 2007 as a competitive ECM platform demonstates Fujitsu”s confidence in the continued growth of SharePoint technologies," Rizzo said. "In addition, this new integration provides customers with yet another way to get a complete Office SharePoint Server-based solution for their organization."

Although companies are increasingly using enterprise content management (ECM) systems like SharePoint, a recent survey from Rohati Systems found that most are not properly secured.

In the survey, 78 percent of IT executives said their systems are only secured by basic single sign-on and password – making them susceptible to data loss and unauthorized access to data.
