FileTek, a large-scale data management firm, recently announced the release of Trusted Edge, its enterprise content management migration tool.
Trusted Edge will allow companies using ECM solutions to clean up their file shares though automatic content tagging. The migration tool takes existing documents stored on network file shares and classifies them before putting them into a secure archive, the company says.
FileTek”s new product allows enterprises using Microsoft SharePoint, Open Text and other ECM platforms to avoid the costly task of cleanup as files begin to clutter and create unnecessary records management costs.
FileTek vice president Mark Seamans says that Trusted Edge allows businesses to avoid a very costly data storage problem.
"The pain associated with unmanaged information transcends the cost of additional storage, because unmanaged and cluttered shared drives can lead to information theft and loss, serious compliance violations, litigation risk, and severe penalties and sanctions, factors that greatly affect organizational health and well-being," says Seamans. "Trusted Edge breakthrough technology eliminates digital housekeeping pain and ensures corporate wellness by making shared drive cleanup and secure migration to one or more structured repositories a simple, one-click, automated process.”
Also attempting to make things easier for enterprises is AvePoint. The company released DocAve Migrator to help companies make a transition from Documentum-based ECM solutions to SharePoint 2010.
