by | Mar 21, 2012

As more organizations adopt a more mobile working environment, EMC continues to develop enterprise content management options to address this growing development. The company recently announced that its Documentum Mobile App is now available for the iPhone through the Apple App Store.

The application is now available for Apple’s iPod Touch, iPad and iPhone models. Market research firm IDC’s program vice president Melissa Webster said more companies are searching for effective ways to support a mobile workforce, especially employees accessing documents on the go.

“The user interface must be intuitive and well-designed for the device they’re using – whether it’s a PC, tablet or smartphone,” Webster said. “Organizations are beginning to appreciate just how critical that is for information worker productivity. EMC Documentum’s new features speak directly to this need.”

Overall, the global ECM industry is expected to continue growing as organizations seek effective ways to access their documents. According to a study conducted by ABI Research, worldwide spending for ECM solutions is projected to reach nearly $3.5 billion in revenue by 2016, increasing from approximately $900 million in 2010.
