Microsoft recently announced the release of SharePoint 2010.As Microsoft plans to release multiple SharePoint offerings in May, many IT experts are now teeming with anticipation while considering how the new enterprise content management products will be optimized in offices across the country, according to experts.

A recent poll at CMS Wire finds that about one-quarter of the 996 respondents are interested in SharePoint 2010 and how it can be used as a collaboration portal or for social media. While 27 percent said that they use a different ECM solution other than SharePoint, 6 percent said they are interested in the new edition of the ECM system for business intelligence integration and another 6 percent said that they are fine using an older version of SharePoint.

"We have marked our calendar with a great big exclamation mark," writes Barb Mosher, who took the poll.

On the May 12 launch date, Microsoft”s Stephen Elop, president of the company”s business division, will host a live event to demonstrate SharePoint”s ECM capabilities over the internet to introduce SharePoint 2010.
