ECM trends for 2009

by | Feb 25, 2009

More companies are looking to become involved in the way their enterprise content management (ECM) software worksMore companies are looking to become involved in the way their enterprise content management (ECM) software works, especially in how it relates to digital asset management (DAM).

That”s according to some experts in the industry who spoke with CMSWire about trends to watch for in 2009.

Nuxeo is already planning a DAM solution for the next release of its ECM software and company CEO Eric Barroca says integration is being addressed in two ways.

"As our DAM solutions leverage the ECM platform, SharePoint integration is already addressed in several ways: either to replace it or to be consumed by it," he told the website.

But one trend that companies see in the near future is the implementation of Web 2.0 style collaboration. Barroca said users want to be able to work as a team to create content, which is something that is already being seen in the industry.

George Grippo, vice president of media asset management for North Plains agrees and told the news provider that his company”s customers want to be more involved in the creation which makes workflow an important feature.

Another trend that might be emerging is the use of XML-based ECM. John Kreisa, director of industry solutions for Mark Logic Corporation recently said that as more companies use the web for content, the need for XML-based ECM will grow.ADNFCR-1861-ID-19043542-ADNFCR
