ECM maturity based on several factors, experts say

by | Jun 26, 2012

Industries of all types are gravitating toward enterprise content management solutions, but identifying ECM maturity is considered one of the most important steps for any organization leveraging these platforms. Fierce Content Management recently reported that several industry experts gave their insight on how companies can determine if ECM deployments are mature.

Dan Elam, chief operating officer at RSC Solutions, told those in attendance at the info360 conference in New York City that return on investment is one way to determine this goal.

“You want to make sure that the system is operating efficiently, that you’re getting the hard dollar savings that you expected. You also need to be taking a look at the end of life for certain projects,” Elam explained, according to the Fierce Content Management report.

Tony Byrne, analyst and founder of Real Story Group, believes ECM maturity is based on how organizations leverage tools, the news source reported.

The ECM ecosystem is expected to undergo growth moving forward, according to a Frost & Sullivan study. The organization’s research said the ECM market is projected to reach nearly $6 billion by 2016.
