EMC and Cisco recently announced a partnership for an enterprise content management solution.
The companies made the announcement at the EMC World event in Las Vegas. Cisco’s contributions include its Quad enterprise collaboration tool along with EMC’s Documentum ECM platform.
In a recent blog post by Cisco’s Murali Sitaram, the companies plan to enable new ways for people to connect with communities and secure information on a policy-driven architecture that provides enhanced security and compliance across the enterprise.
According to the post, the new offering includes four major benefits – integrated user experience, information and governance, business relevance and maximizing existing assets.
“Today, most organizations are strategically adopting a ‘platform approach’ that leverages a more open and standards-based means of integrating collaboration, content, unified communications and enterprise social software,” wrote Sitaram.
The worldwide ECM market is predicted to continue its strong growth. According to a report by Frost & Sullivan, the worldwide ECM solutions market is expected to reach $1.75 billion in 2016, while the entire ECM ecosystem market will reach nearly $6 billion.
