Companies release model to help customers manage ECM

by | Jul 16, 2010

A number of companies recently collaborated on a product that helps ECM users audit their data.A number of software development companies recently designed the ECM Maturity Model, which allows organizations using ECM solutions to align business and technology efforts in hope of improving efficiency. Wipro, Hartman and Smigel Consulting worked together to create the solution, along with independent company CMS Watch.

As the amount of information stored in ECM solutions and enterprise servers continues to grow, companies need guidance in terms of managing the data. With the ECM Maturity Model, companies can ensure their files and solution settings adequately comply with retention schedules and other compliance mandates.

“In today”s cost-sensitive environment, it is important to follow a model which helps enterprises identify, prioritize, and implement the initiatives that give them maximum value for money. This maturity model will help organizations in achieving this,” Shridhar Rajgopalan, global head of the portals and content management practice at Wipro, said.

Newer editions of popular ECM solutions have been outsourced to the cloud to help companies using them save money on data storage. As the amount of information continues to grow, using the cloud is especially important because costs rise only in terms of files rather than energy usage and IT staff required to manage the servers. Most recently, EMC redirected its ECM suite Documentum to the cloud to move the company forward.ADNFCR-1861-ID-19895220-ADNFCR
