As more enterprise content management companies attempt to show just how secure their services are, many are seeking out certification for contracts from the Department of Defense. Carahsoft Technology Corp. is the latest IT firm to receive a DoD ESI Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) contract.
With the five year contract with the DoD, Carahsoft will provide the department with solutions ranging from enterprise content management to database technologies and operating systems. The services will come from companies Red Hat, Alfresco CollabNet and others.
Craig P. Abod, president of Carahsoft, said the company is excited to be awarded the contract and believes it will improve the efficiency of the DoD.
"As the Department of Defense continues to expand its implementation of open source technologies, this BPA will make it easier than ever to procure the stable, scalable, secure and extremely cost-effective software they need to achieve their missions," he said.
In January, Open Text announced it had received records management certification from the DoD for a number of its services including its Content Lifecycle Management (CLM) Services for SharePoint.
