Digital imaging and enterprise content management software provider Canon presented a new digital scanning solution Thursday designed for use with workgroup document imaging as well general office applications.
The DR-2020U is Canon”s newest addition to the DR-Scanner line. It offers three-way scanning, a 50-page Automatic Document Feeder for batch scanning, a business card feeder tray for batch business card scanning and a flatbed for unconventionally-sized documents. Developers said the new scanner will work well for distributed scanning or general office workloads.
"With its user-friendly design, outstanding workflow and increased imaging flexibility, the DR-2020U is a cost-effective addition to help boost office efficiency and productivity," said Canon vice president Jim Rosetta.
The new scanner”s interfaces are designed for simple hardware integration with third-party enterprise content management software. It comes with a bundle of imaging software programs, including Canon CaptureOnTouch and CapturePerfect, Adobe Acrobat Standard, BizCard, NewSoft Presto!, and Nuance OmniPage SE and Paperport Standard.
The scanner will be released by the American arm of Canon, the Japanese-owned camera manufacturer and imaging solution provider founded in 1937. Canon U.S.A. is headquartered in Lake Success, New York. The company is listed as one of Fortune magazine”s "Most Admired Companies," and BusinessWeek”s "100 Best Global Brands."
