Snowbound enters the world of video via YouTube

by | Aug 16, 2011

After Google, the most popular way for people to perform online research is via YouTube’s video library. A publically accessible video library is a boon to prospective customers of  companies such as ours because it can provide an efficient and effective way to see a demonstration of  Snowbound’s document viewing and conversion applications and software development toolkits (SDKs) via a convenient portal.

Snowbound’s offerings include VirtualViewer, an off-the-shelf document and image viewer that provides secure high-speed access across the enterprise making it easy to share content. Features including document annotation, redaction, thumbnail views and Page on Demand high-speed viewing enhance workflow and productivity, and enable greater colleague collaboration and communication. SnowBatch – our Windows-based document and image conversion application features quick, easy and accurate batch conversion – no matter the volume or format of files received. SnowBatch’s built-in functionality and easy-to-use interface provides automated batch processing from multiple locations, without running a print driver, and features watermarking and redaction features.

Our RasterMaster Imaging and Conversion SDK – provides the tools software developers need to build powerful document viewing and conversion functionality into workflow applications. Comprehensive imaging functions including viewing, conversion, manipulation, and annotation for virtually all documents and images using RasterMaster’s flexible APIs.

To date, we’ve made available two videos highlighting our VirtualViewer AJAX web-based viewer and an introduction to our RasterMaster SDK. Our AJAX viewer is a browser-based ‘Pure HTML’ document and image viewer that provides secure ‘view anywhere’ functionality without installation on the client. The AJAX document viewer video may be accessed HERE.

The RasterMaster videos will be created and posted as a series of three presentations to more fully explore the features and functionality of the imaging SDK. Part one highlighting the full-featured annotation sample application may be viewed HERE.

Part two of the RasterMaster SDK video series will cover two instructional samples of how to use RasterMaster for document conversion ; one in .NET and one in Java, while part three will demonstrate using a module called DocClean for the clean-up of scanned and faxed documents. Both should be available in August.

YouTube’s video sharing Website is the third most visited site on the Internet after Google and Facebook. Created in February of 2005, the company has seen explosive growth, and it is estimated that the bandwidth that YouTube consumed in 2007 was greater than what the entire Internet consumed in 2000. Google acquired YouTube in November 2006 for $1.65 billion in Google stock. Another amazing statistic, according to the company’s blog, over 48 hours of video are uploaded to the site every minute!

What does this mean for all of us? Content availability and audience size due to the sheer volume of YouTube’s video library and number of users, as they say ‘the largest worldwide video sharing community’. And getting your message onto YouTube is quick and easy – just join and upload – plus, there’s the ability to use social media sites to leverage sharing options among users and other social media sites. Also, YouTube has a bulletin board that allows users to post messages informing others that videos are available to be viewed. See you online!
