BlueTie acquisition targeted at improving market share

by | Sep 17, 2010

SaaS email storage and collaboration vendor BlueTie recently announced the acquisition of Wonderfile.BlueTie, a provider of SaaS email storage and collaboration solutions, recently announced the acquisition of SaaS storage vendor Wonderfile. The move is ostensibly an effort from BlueTie to compete with major email storage and ECM vendors such as Google and Microsoft.

Currently, BlueTie serves more than 250,000 small- and medium-sized businesses around the world, but it hopes to sign larger companies with the acquisition of Wonderfile's storage services. More companies than ever are turning to ECM to comply with various regulations enacted by government and watchdog agencies in recent years.

"As cloud-based file sharing and collaboration becomes increasingly important, companies are looking for intuitive and reliable applications that help them grow," said David Koretz, BlueTie CEO. "The combination of BlueTie’s business class email and calendaring with a top notch file sharing application like Wonderfile is a very compelling story for our customers and channel partners."

Making the applications available through the cloud will likely help it save businesses, as 95 percent of companies using SaaS plan to expand or maintain their current investment, according to Gartner.
